01:34 am - Race Results
As I said, I felt better doing this race this year over last year. My time was not great -- 26:40 (8:54 minute miles), but still a 1:21 improvement over last year. Ironically (considering the amount of exercise and shape I'm in now versus then) I felt a lot less comfortable as a distance runner. I've been concentrating far more on strength and sprinting (which I have drastically improved) for ultimate and my sanity.

There was a lot of up and down in the course -- and really annoying distribution of it, with most of the first quarter and third quarter being uphill. Course times were also slower this year -- the winner was the same this year (18:21) as last year (17:16) -- I don't know why. If I ran the course more than once a year, my time would improve. If I remember to bring my headphones with me to the gym more often, so that I could tolerate running for more than 10 minutes at a stretch (so it turns into either interval speed training, or just all-out sprint-til-i-stop cardio), my time would improve. I am not sure if I care.

Went on my quarterly and annual shopping spree tonight, spontaneously. Bought several pairs of pants, a sportjacket that caught my fancy, some new (leather! Clarks, again) shoes, and an electric dryer.

I haven't really given 10k a consideration. I guess I probably could.

Why did you put that tracer image in your comment? I'm inclined to delete the message as a consequence.
