I had the notion to try buying a used car. Or apparently one can lease a car, fairly cheaply -- Renault (yeah, yeah) has a big business with it: you must not live in europe, need it for 17+ days, or be working. In exchange, you get a brand-spankin' new vehicle, with unlimited miles, zero-deductible comprehensive insurance, for way less (total) than a rental (no second driver fees, age 18+). Pick up and drop off all over Europe. (why do they do this: because it is much cheaper to sell (tax-wise) used cars in france). Having a car would have the advantage of as a fall-back place to live with dog, dog temp storage (plus carting the crate around would be annoying), and the chance to get out to the more remote places...
Shit. I'm running out of reasons why this is a bad idea. I have a couple of weeks before I have to formally renew/decline my lease. Seth and I haven't really talked much about how long I'm staying (we haven't talked much, period, lately).
